Olympic Legacy for two Hampshire Primary Schools
Earth to Ocean's Kate Chapman and Susie Tomson made sure that a bit of Olympic Legacy reached their home villages at the end of 2012. In the closing weeks of their work at LOCOG they were able to salvage the remains of the Olympic hockey pitch (most of which had gone to be relaid at Sheffield Hallam University) to be re-used as an all weather sports surface in two primary schools in Hampshire. Part of our remit at London 2012 was to ensure maximum re-use of Games assets and construction materials, so it was great to find good homes for this all weather pitch, which might otherwise have been recycled and over six hundred children will soon be able to play on an Olympic pitch!
